Putting Fife on the map

Alistair Bruce

Chair, Fife Tourism Partnership/General Manager, Keavil House Hotel

Instrumental in the formation of the Dunfermline & West Fife Local Tourist Association  current Chair of the Fife Tourism Partnership, the overarching group for the LTA’s read Alistair's story and find out why he want's to highlight Fife as a world class, quality destination.

Alistair is a hotelier through and through. It all started for him when his mother bought a small hotel in Doune near Stirling, where his passion for hospitality flourished. Alistair studied at Napier University in Edinburgh and then joined Swallow Hotels (now Marriott Hotels) as a Trainee Manager.

Working in various 3 & 4 star hotels in England, Alistair eventually returned home to Scotland and worked for various hotel brands including MacDonald Hotels, Thistle Hotels, Forte Posthouse Hotels and Holiday Inn, primarily in city centre locations. He joined the BEST WESTERN brand of hotels in 2005, managing the BEST WESTERN Edinburgh Capital Hotel before moving to the award winning 4 star BEST WESTERN PLUS Keavil House Hotel and Spa in Crossford, near Dunfermline in West Fife, where he and his team have won numerous awards, including “Hotel of the Year” twice!

As the General Manager of Keavil House, Alistair became heavily involved in various local groups and was instrumental in the formation of the Dunfermline & West Fife Local Tourist Association (LTA) and has now been the Chair of that group for the last 5 years. This initiative was repeated across Fife with the valuable assistance of Fife Council and there now exists another 4 LTA groups who work together to promote and encourage visitors to come to Fife. Alistair was then asked to become the Chair of the Fife Tourism Partnership (FTP), the overarching group for the LTA’s, in 2014 and now works across all the LTA regions in Fife.

As a hotelier, Alistair is always looking for things for his guests to see & do, and through his work with the LTA’s and FTP, has become amazed with the variety and scope a visitor can experience. It’s not all about Golf and St Andrews, although they are important aspects of any visitors stay. From Chilli farms to Motorsport, from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Forth Rail Bridge to Historic buildings in Dunfermline where ancient Kings lie, from beautiful beaches to Marine Sealife, any guest can find a host of different activities to see and do.

Alistair’s objective is to really put Fife on the map for tourists, he is a passionate ambassador for Fife and works hard to highlight Fife as a world class, quality destination.
