Education
Fife's Education Service provides education for over 50,000 pupils in the Fife school district, from pre-school age to 18.
The 200 schools offer the Curriculum for Excellence, which aims to provide a coherent, flexible and enriched curriculum for learners from 3 to 18. The focus is on children and young people in Scotland developing the knowledge, skills and attributes they will need to flourish in life, learning and work.
Pre-schools in Fife
The pre-school facilities in Fife are excellent, with a variety of quality pre-school crèches, nurseries, playgroups, family centres and childminders available. Primary school in Fife
The 142 primary schools in Fife each have their own website providing information about their aims and life in school. Children study a range of subjects during their time at primary school, including English, maths, science, ICT, history, geography, art, music and PE.
Secondary schools in Fife
The 19 secondary schools in Fife continue the learning started in primary school. In third and fourth year of their Fife high school they choose which subjects to study along with English and Mathematics (which are compulsory). At the end of fourth year, pupils sit an exam then choose stay on for fifth and sixth year to study for highers and advanced highers, or leave to gain employment or attend a Fife college.
