About

Family owned and managed since the 1950’s, Rufflets has been awarded AA Scottish Hotel of the Year 2015-2016, which makes sense given its beautiful grounds and gardens, 24 luxurious bedrooms, excellent cuisine combined with a laid back and relaxed atmosphere. The Terrace Restaurant offers the very best of modern Scottish cuisine made with local ingredients such as fresh seafood from the East Neuk of Fife as well as local beef and lamb, enhanced by our home-grown vegetables, fruits and herbs. The beaches, restaurants, historic buildings and golf courses in the centre of town are all no more than 5 minutes by car. All in all, a great place for an active or relaxing break filled with Scottish charm.

Rooms

All our Classic Rooms are located in the main house. These rooms vary in size and outlook but are equipped and decorated to the same high standard.

First floor double rooms are bright and spacious and are decorated in contemporary style, using feature wallpapers and fabrics in bold colours to complement the mostly traditional furniture. The modern compact bathrooms have spacious walk in power showers.

Second floor rooms are furnished with a choice of queen or king size zip & link beds. These rooms are light and airy and are decorated in contemporary style with plain paint finishes and window blinds, creating an unfussy look. Furniture is traditional. The modern bathrooms are all spacious, with bath and separate power showers.

Room 37: has a double aspect with windows overlooking both the west lawn and formal garden. Décor is calm with taupe painted walls, complemented by rich purple accents on the headboard, throw and cushions. The purple theme continues into the spacious bathroom which has a contemporary free standing bath and a large low profile power shower.

The children’s room has two full size single beds. A spacious, modern bathroom with feature bath and large corner power shower separates the two rooms and interconnects with both.

Family Room 20: is located on the first floor in the main house with an open outlook to the north. This bright and spacious family suite comprises a master bedroom with king size zip & link bed and the children’s room has a full size single bed with a smaller pull out bed for a second child. The contemporary bathroom has a low profile walk in power shower, feature bath and twin basins. This suite is equally suited to three adults sharing.

Family Room 26: occupies the west wing of Rufflets Lodge, just 50 yards from the house and with its own private parking. This ground floor suite has a master bedroom with king size zip & link bed and a panoramic view of the lower garden, a smaller twin bedded room and a shared bathroom with bath and shower. Well behaved dogs are welcome in Rufflets Lodge by prior arrangement and at a supplement of £10.00 per night.

Directions

Rufflets is located to the West of St Andrews Town Centre. The nearest train station is Leuchars.

From the North via the Tay Road Bridge

Cross the Tay Road Bridge. Take the second exit signposted St Andrews. At the roundabout take the first exit and follow the A919 Guardbridge to St Andrews road. When you reach the roundabout in Guardbridge take the first exit, the A91 to St Andrews. Take the first junction to the right (next to the Fast & Fresh takeaway), following the tourist information signposts to Rufflets Hotel. At the top of the hill continue straight through the village of Strathkinness and down to the crossroads. Turn left onto the B939 and follow the Rufflets sign. Rufflets is 1.5 miles long this road on the right hand side.

From the South via the Forth Road Bridge

Cross the Forth Road Bridge onto the M90 and take exit 2A following the signs for Glenrothes, Tay Bridge A92. Go straight through the next three roundabouts on the A92. At the fourth roundabout (25 mile from the Forth Road Bridge) take the third exit (A914) to St Andrews and Cupar. Follow the road through Cupar and take the A91 to St Andrews. Carry on through Dairsie and Guardbridge and after the roundabout take the first turning on the right to Strathkinness following the tourist information signs to Rufflets as above.
