Fife has a long history within the financial and business services sector. With over 19,000 people across Fife employed in this sector, it encompasses financial intermediation, contact and service centres, real estate and property services.
Construction
Construction is a significant contributor to the economy and there are a number of major house-builders and construction companies located in Fife.
Construction jobs in Fife in the pipeline include the building of the new Forth crossing, affordable housing and new works for Diageo in Leven.
Manufacturing and engineering
Manufacturing and engineering remains a specialist core strength in Fife. Although heavy manufacturing has declined in the area in recent years, it has been succeeded by 'Silicon Glen' - the high tech sector based around electronics.
