Fife Stories: Sally Watson

Sally Watson's passion for golf and Fife

Sally Watson

Pro Golfer

I am currently playing on the Ladies European Tour and spend my off weeks practising up in St Andrews trying to work my own way into golf's history books. Ultimately I would love to play on the American ladies professional golf tour but wherever I am in the world I will always be proud to call Fife home.

Sally's ambition is to play professional golf on the LPGA Tour and become the best professional she can be.

I first learned how to play golf as a little girl at the Elie Sports Club. My family and I always used to come through to Fife for our summer holidays (until we moved here full time) and playing golf was just one of the many fun activities that were on offer.

The great thing about golf in Fife is that not only are there a lot of fantastic golf courses to play but there are plenty of opportunities to watch the professionals compete-either at the Dunhill Links Championship or The Open/Ricoh Women's Open.

I remember as a little girl watching Tiger win the 2000 Open Championship and then Jack Nicklaus saying goodbye to The Open in 2005. Having the opportunity to watch moments that will forever be remembered in golfing history was truly inspiring and was a big influence behind me wanting to play professional golf.
