Are you coming to the 150th Open this July?

The Open returns to the iconic Home of Golf in Fife

04 April 22

In July 2022, the world’s best golfers will arrive in St Andrews to play the 150th Open at the iconic Old Course. Past winners of The Open at St Andrews include greats of the game like Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. This is without doubt one of the biggest days in the golfing calendar.

If you are lucky enough to have tickets you’re in for a real treat. As well as watching the best players in the world at the Home of Golf why not take some time to explore St Andrews and the rest of the Kingdom of Fife?

If you’d like to play golf there are more than 40 courses to choose from with something to suit every ability and budget. We’ve got parkland, links, heathland and clifftop courses many of which were designed by golfing greats like Old Tom Morris and James Braid. Find out more at www.visitfifegolf.com

Away from the course Fife has so much to offer. In St Andrews you’ll find lots of history, plus lovely independent shops and delicious places to eat and drink. Don’t miss the famous West Sands – a beautiful beach close to the Old Course.

A short distance away you’ll reach the East Neuk, a charming corner of Fife with pretty fishing villages lining the coast.

Further down the coast the Levenmouth area has some great beaches with great views.

Continue down the coast and you’ll come to the Heartlands of Fife where you’ll find some lovely seaside towns and plenty of greenspace.

Kinghorn Loch

Further on Dunfermline & West Fife is packed with history, including a past capital city of Scotland and the iconic UNESCO World Heritage Forth Bridge.

Heading north to Cupar and North Fife you’ll find plenty more to explore including a historic whisky distillery and one of the most picturesque villages in Scotland, a favourite place of Mary Queen of Scots.

There are plenty of other events on during the summer too away from the golf. Check out our what’s on section for more info.

Fife is also known for its delicious food and drink and you’ll find something to suit all tastes and budgets from Michelin starred restaurants to cheese toasties on the beach, and of course fish and chips! Check out our eat and drink section.

Accommodation will be very busy during The Open especially round St Andrews but there are plenty other places in the Kingdom which are in easy reach. Check our accommodation listings or go to www.visitscotland.com or www.stayatheopen.com
