September sees the return of the popular Doors Open Days event and this year sees the return of many venues opening their doors to the public once again. It's the perfect opportunity to discover some of Fife's unique and interesting buildings for free!
This year there is also a collaboration with the ongoing Flax Festival that is happening across Fife, and many ‘flax’ related events and buildings are taking place and opening during the DOD weekends; information about these and other events can be found at https://ourlinenstories.com/events/
Following on from 2020s’ precedent of providing a digital, online option for public access, many buildings taking part in DOD for 2021 are continuing to provide digital material which will allow a wider, indeed worldwide, audience to make a visit ‘online’ to Fife’s buildings.
Doors Open Days will take place over the weekends of 4/5th, 11/12th and 18/19th of September and for full details of what will be open to visit can be found in the FIFE 2021 brochure at www.fife.gov.uk/doorsopendays2021 or on the Doors Open Days website at www.doorsopendays.org.uk
Buildings taking part this year include Monimail Tower, Silverburn Flax Mill, Dreel Halls (Anstruther) and The Merchant's House (Kirkcaldy)...amongst many others. There are also some guided walks as part of the programme.
