Rob Luft and Elina Duni
Although both are already established in the flourishing London Jazz scene, they take their inspirations for their music from many other genres and cultures, transporting us through timeless folk songs which still resonate so truly today.

Rob Luft has been lauded as one of the most talented contemporary jazz guitarists in the UK, but his playing and influences also have echoes of West African high-life, English folk and indie rock. His debut album, “Riser”, was released in July 2017, to widespread critical acclaim from the European jazz media. John Fordham wrote in The Guardian that it’s a “very sophisticated debut, but given Luft’s old-soul achievements since his early teens, we should have heard it coming”.

He has collaborated with some of the brightest and best musicians, as well as being part of several ensembles including Patchwork Jazz Orchestra and Jazz-Rock quartet Big Bad Wolf.

Elina Duni was a star by the age of 10 in her home country of Albania. In 1992, after the fall of the communist regime, she settled in Geneva, Switzerland with her mother, where she started studying classical piano and thereafter discovered jazz.

She went on to study on the jazz programme at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern. During this time she formed the Elina Duni Quartet with Colin Vallon on piano, Patrice Moret on double bass and Norbert Pfammatter on drums. This represented a return to her musical roots, a combination of Balkan folk songs and jazz.

After releasing five critically acclaimed albums (two as part of her quartet, two which explored Albanian folklore and one in 2014 penning her own songs) she went on to release her first solo album in 2018 “Partir” accompanying herself on piano, acoustic guitar and percussion. In 2017, she was awarded the Swiss Music Prize.

Rob Luft:
“So young and so talented!” – Jamie Cullum, BBC Radio 2 (UK)

“…an extraordinary talent!” – Julian Joseph, BBC Radio 3 (UK)

“The virtuosity of the three [guitarists Al di Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia] is reminiscent of the 23-year-old Londoner Rob Luft, who is celebrated as a new ‘Wunderkind’”
Spiegel Online (D)

“With Riser Luft has produced a debut album of remarkable originality, strong compositions and he’s assisted by a formidable quartet of musicians whose natural sensibilities and talents only serve to enhance the project.”
All About Jazz (UK)

“…a singular talent, a fluent improviser and a composer of catchy, earthy, infectiously upbeat tunes. There are echoes of west African high-life, English folk, indie rock and various strands of contemporary jazz, but Luft’s sound is joyously original, robust and in-your-face…”
The Irish Times (IRE)

“With Riser, Luft has not only made a stunning debut, but sets himself at the forefront of the outstanding and interesting guitarists in jazz. A wonderful achievement for such a young guitarist, but on the basis of Riser, fully justified. Very impressive!”
Written In Music (NL)

Elina Duni:

“Her nuanced delivery, underscored by a restraint that only serves to render the subject matter more immediate and captivating, captures the emotive subtlety of every word, of every note, colored with a delicate vibrato that suggests both strength and vulnerability, in equal measure”
