History in the Park will be returning to Craigtoun this May, even bigger and better than before and still free to attend! This year we will have historic encampments demonstrating life in the area through 6 different time periods from the Romans through to World War 1. The Roman Period with The Antonine GuardThe Viking Period with Glasgow VikingsThe Medieval Period, 1070AD Malcolm III, with Regia AngolorumThe Renaissance with The Company of St MargaretThe Jacobite Wars with Alan Brecks Volunteer RegimentLife during World War 1 with Scots at WarVisit the Historical Encampments to learn how Scotland as we know it today was formed. See the kinds of things people wore and ate, behold accurate replicas of the treasures they hoarded and discover lost crafts brought to life by enthusiasts. Meet craftspeople both historic and modern at our Traders Encampment where historical charities and traders will be offering further insight into the history of Fife, as well as selling accurate historical replicas and other items. Visit the Falconry display from Raptor World to learn about the part falconry has played in the development of local agriculture and learn about the history of medicine from The Historical Herbalists. Displays will take place at set intervals on Saturday and Sunday as follows: 10-10:30am: Antonine Guard 10:30-11am: Glasgow Vikings 11-11:30 am: Regia Angolorum 11:30am – 12 noon: Company of Saint Margaret 12 noon - 12:30pm: Alan brecks Volunteer Regiment 12:30 – 1pm: Scots at War 1 -1:30pm: Antonine Guard 1:30-2pm: Glasgow Vikings 2-2:30pm: Regia Angolorum 2:30-3pm: Company of Saint Margaret 3-3:30pm: Alan Breck’s Volunteer regiment 3:30 -4pm: Scots at War Schools and home-schooled families have the opportunity to attend on Friday 30th May for all the above plus additional activities, all for free by booking with Friends of Craigtoun.
