Engaging Libraries – funded by Wellcome, Carnegie UK Trust and The Wolfson Foundation

Join in with our second online baking workshop where, from the comfort of your own home, you’ll learn how to bake delicious oatcakes and share your thoughts or experiences about menopause.  This series of workshops is part of our Engaging Libraries, Pause Not Full Stop menopause project, trying to start more open discussions about the Menopause.  Our baking guru, Colin Lindsay from Bread in Fife will guide us through the baking part of the workshop before we take some time out to have a cuppa and some chat with our research partner, Dr Vanessa Beck from Bristol University.  Dr Beck has carried out lots of research into the way menopause is talked about, or not talked about, and is now hoping to carry out more work around the best way to hold those conversations.

If you are a baking expert or have never baked before, everyone is welcome, just come along prepared to bake and to join in the banter!

Everyone who books will receive a recipe, equipment list and a pack of dry ingredients in advance of the workshop.  Workshop duration is around 1.5 hours.  We positively welcome partners, friends and family members to join in the conversation, so let’s get together and start breaking down those menopause taboos!

Places limited to 10 devices per workshop.

How it Works

The event takes place in the Zoom videoconferencing app, which you should install and test at least an hour before it starts. Or why not install it now and test it with family or friends? Download Zoom

If you already have Zoom installed, please check that it’s up to date. Check for updates. For the best experience of the event use a laptop or desktop computer, and make sure the sound is on. Tablets or phones with the Zoom app can be used also.
