Balmule was originally a square tower house. Generations of owners and families have helped the building evolve whilst maintaining its traditional charm.

Now for the first time in its history, Balmule House has opened its doors to guests looking for a relaxing, indulgent stay.All the traditional elements remain: cornices, fireplaces, even the original maids’ bells (all still working, too). However, Balmule embraces all the best of today with air-conditioned rooms, Wi-Fi, underfloor heating in bathrooms and brand-new plumbing to ensure round-the-clock hot showers for everyone.Balmule also lends itself well to smaller incentive groups.

We have some of the world’s best championship golf courses just a short drive away. Our main reception room is licensed as a wedding and civil ceremony venue for up to 40 guests. With large picture windows overlooking the surrounding countryside and an elegant interior, it’s ideal for an intimate and personal ceremony.You can also have a wedding breakfast or dinner in the house for up to 40 guests to continue the relaxed country house feel of the day.

Our original walled garden, flowerbeds and waterfall look just great as a backdrop to your photographs. The garden also has a terrace where up to 200 can gather for a drinks reception. There’s room, too, for a marquee for up to 500 guests with Balmule House and the rolling Fife countryside as a backdrop.

Our proximity to Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as ease of access to the rest of Scotland, makes us a popular choice with couples whose families and friends are coming from all points north and south.
