Beginning in the five-star visitor attraction, ‘Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries’, you will continue on to the birthplace of one of the world’s greatest philanthropists, Dunfermline born Andrew Carnegie. In the ‘Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum’ you will discover the story of how Andrew Carnegie journeyed from Dunfermline to Pittsburgh in the United States and rose to become the world’s richest man. You will also learn how he became one of the most famous philanthropists in the world, creating almost 3000 libraries worldwide.
Visit the iconic Dunfermline Abbey Church, the final resting place of one of Scotland’s greatest historical figures, King Robert the Bruce. Tour Dunfermline Abbey Nave and hear the stories of some of Kings and Queens of Scotland who were buried in what is often referred to as ‘Scotland’s Westminster’. Visit the ruins of Dunfermline Palace, birthplace of King Charles 1st and home of ‘King James V1 of Scotland and King James 1st of England’ and his Queen, Anna of Denmark.
