This talk will cover the reasons why the Tay Rail Bridge was built, the cause of the disaster on Sunday 28th December 1879, the astoundingly bad poetry of Dundee born William McGonagall including "The Tay Bridge Disaster" and the efforts made by the boys of the Mars Training Ship, anchored nearby, to rescue the passengers.
