The idea of home – the people, the landscape, the culture and the language – provided a sense of identity for Scots who, over the centuries, found themselves overseas in new and unfamiliar places. For Scots in Scotland, the home was most often a place to speak Scots when it was discouraged, a place where the language could be shared and passed down generations. With insightful contributions from academics, local school pupils, poets and storytellers, we invite you to join us in celebrating the use of the Scots language “aroun the warld”, “aroun the toun”, and “aroun the hoose”!
