The Dunermline Bruce Festival is back for 2026 and it’s bigger and better than ever with a packed programme of events held over two days in the heart of Dunfermline at beautiful Pittencrieff Park. It’s a unique festival that brings history to life in Scotland's ancient capital.

Whether you’re a family looking for a fun day out, a history lover, or a music fan, here are 10 great reasons to be part of this special weekend. It’s all happening on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May.

1. Experience the stirring sound of the bagpipes
Kicking off the festivities there will be a formal procession from the impressive Louise Carnegie park gates to the main arena, led by Dunfermline’s own pipes and drums of the Royal British Legion.

2. Watch some spectacular battle action
Watch knights clash in full armour atop majestic horses, charging at the quintain and battling for glory, and relive the intensity of medieval warfare with staged skirmishes and swordplay.

This year, King Robert the Bruce and his royal court will be joined by other major figures from the city’s rich history. Stories about the life and times of Saint Margaret, King Malcolm Canmore, and of course the world’s most famous industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie will bring all this history to life.

4. Stop and listen to the music
Kick back and enjoy the mellow sounds of folk music in front of Pittencrieff House and enjoy some tasty street food and and drink too.

There's lots to keep the kids happy including the School for Squires where they can train like medieval warriors, mastering lances, and testing agility in obstacle courses, plus crafts & storytelling and much more.

6. Experience life from long ago at the Medieval Village
See how our ancestors worked with living history as costumed interpreters demonstrate crafts such as metal-working, weaving, and manuscript illumination.

7. New for 2026! Music in the marquee
A fantastic new addition to the festival are two evenings of music featuring some great talent including Kyle Falconer of the View as headliner on Saturday and Fatherson on Sunday. Don't miss out, tickets are on sale now
