A lovely local community woodland which has recently been upgraded with new paths, signage and a nature trail. A historically important ancient woodland which is very popular with local walkers, dog owners and cyclists.
The woodland is a great natural greenspace for both recreational use and offers a valuable and diverse habitat for wildlife.
Calais Muir is home to birds of prey including Sparrow Hawks and Buzzards, along with a wide range of smaller birds, who both live and nest within the woods. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of a Roe Deer at dawn or dusk.
