“Weaving with plant material to make baskets for shopping, fishing, farming or just collecting flowers has a very long tradition. Today most baskets are made from willow or cane. I love trying to make things from any hedgerow materials I can find and I invite you to come along on Sunday 4th October 2-5pm to have a go yourself, discovering what can be done with materials foraged from your own garden or out in the woods. Wreath’s, bird feeders, egg baskets etc are all possible. We will spend a lovely Sunday afternoon exploring the properties of different plants materials. Making fun items. Clematis, ivy, willow, vines, brambles, honeysuckle, jasmine cut longer than a couple of feet ( 60cm). They all have the potential to thrill us. If you can wrap it round your wrist without breaking it can be used.” (Pam) All proceeds go to fundraising for Museum activities.
