7 Fife bakeries to tempt your tastebuds

Who doesn't love a cake or some freshly baked bread? Here we have a round up of the best Fife bakeries not to be missed on your visit.

The Newport Bakery, Newport-on-Tay

An artisan bakery based a short walk up the high street from the sister company, The Newport Restaurant, run by Masterchef The Professionals Winner 2014 Jamie Scott. Everything is made in house daily, including real bread, cakes, sweet and savoury pastries. They also stock some fantastic local produce. Specialities include puffnuts - a delectable croissant puff pastry, doughnut concoction!

Town House Deli and Bakery, Falkland

One of Fife's newer bakeries can be found in the pretty conservation of Falkland, offering fresh breads, pastries and cakes daily as well as deli items and many locally sourced produce. Pick up some treats to take home.

Fisher and Donaldson, St Andrews & Cupar

A fifth generation family bakery with a huge range of traditional Scottish and continental treats. Their product range includes  a whopping 400 delicious treats, from croissants and soft morning rolls to handmade Belgian chocolates and custom-made celebration cakes! There's a bake or cake for everyone's taste. Our recommendation would be the coffee tower or fudge doughnut!

Woodlea Stables, Crossgates

​This artisan bakery is home to some of the best bread in Scotland, winning the 'Champion' loaf category at the annual Highland Show two years running.

Sunrise Bakehouse, Burntisland

A wonderful family owned artisan bakery, specialising in sourdough bread, sourcing locally and using organic ingredients. Everything is made by hand in this quaint bakery shop and there is always something delicious to buy including the amazing sweet buns.

G H Barnett, East Neuk

A family bakery with retail outlets throughout the East Neuk, they offer a range of artisanal breads, traditional pies, sausage rolls, oatcakes, scones and cakes using locally sourced ingredients.. A regular at the Bowhouse Food Weekends, which is a must visit.

Stuart's Bakery, FIfe wide

Established in 1857, Stuart's Bakery is a true family business with six generations of baking experience. You'll find their cakes and bakery products in 15 shops throughout Fife (some with cafes). Alan Stuart, father of Keith and Mark who now run the company, founded the highly prestigious World Scotch Pie Championship in 1999, an annual headline-grabber across the UK!
