Join us for a BioBlitz at St Andrews Botanic Garden - a full day dedicated to discovering and recording the incredible biodiversity found across the Garden’s diverse habitats. A BioBlitz is a collaborative event where researchers, conservation groups, students, and members of the public work together to record as many species as possible in a single day. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced naturalist, everyone is welcome to take part. Throughout the day, you can: Join guided walks across woodland, meadow, pond, and garden habitats Take part in hands-on sampling and species identification Meet local experts and conservation organisations Learn how to use citizen science tools like iNaturalist Visit stalls and interactive displays Take part in family-friendly activities for all ages We will be focusing on a wide range of wildlife, including insects, birds, plants, fungi, amphibians, mammals, and more, helping to build a valuable baseline dataset for the Garden and contribute to long-term biodiversity monitoring. The main event runs 10:00–16:00, with optional early morning recording for keen naturalists and evening surveys including bats and nocturnal wildlife. This is a free, informal, and welcoming event designed for families, students, researchers, and anyone curious about nature. Come for an hour or stay all day - and help us uncover the hidden biodiversity of St Andrews.
