Home of Fife’s number one free visitor attraction, Lochore Meadows, Lochgelly has been transformed from an often-overlooked mining village into one of Fife’s top leisure destinations. With first-class facilities for walking, cycling and watersports and nearby Lochore Castle offering visitors an augmented reality experience, this corner of Fife is well worth a visit.

Lochore Meadows – often called ‘The Meedies’ - consists of over 1200 acres of woodland circling beautiful Loch Ore. With wheelchair and pushchair accessible routes through the trees and around the loch, cycle paths, facilities for a range of watersports including kayaking, paddleboarding and open water swimming, fishing and golf, as well as a children’s playpark, there’s something for everyone at Lochore Meadows.

Lochgelly is also the site of Fife Cycle Park, a purpose-built, floodlit, 1.6km circuit where all ages and abilities can cycle in a traffic-free environment. Bikes and helmets are available for hire and there are changing rooms and showers.

If you prefer four wheels to two, Lochgelly Raceway is Scotland’s version of Daytona! From March to November, this oval racetrack hosts a range of high-speed motorsport events, including stock car, hot rod and banger racing.
