PROCESS is the name of the Remembering Together Fife project where art specialist, Katie Fowlie is collaborating with foraging specialist Jayson Byles from East Neuk Seaweed. In this free, accessible indoor workshop, you'll be introduced to preparing food and sustainable art materials from plant-based ingredients. We'll help you to appreciate the many benefits and applications of foraging, enabling you to explore, prepare, share and create together at this event. Food is a universal language and a fantastic way to bring people together. But it's also increasingly important to promote the exchange of knowledge and skills needed to access and prepare healthy food during times of food insecurity. Learn about foraged and seasonal plants, with Jayson demonstrating how to prepare and cook these ingredients. We'll then share the food we've prepared in a communal meal, to celebrate food and its varied applications. Katie will enable you to create your own sustainable botanical inks from food waste and foraged materials. She'll demonstrate the Anthotype process, creating photographic emulsions from plants and vegetables. And you'll be gifted a ‘kit’ away with you so you can experiment at home. It's hoped that participants develop a closer relationship with the natural environment around them, and a deeper understanding of how Fife’s varied landscape can enrich and provide physical and mental nourishment. Jayson Byles is an expert in foraging whose workshops include topics such as ethics and safe practise within the landscape, identification, food hygiene, seasonality, wellbeing and health. Katie Fowlie is a local multidisciplinary artist and educator, with a keen interest in Fife’s landscape and heritage, who uses plant-based and foraged materials in her practice. These workshops are supported by Lateral Lab, and funded by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. Car parking, disabled parking and disabled toilets are available at this centre. If you book places but then can't attend, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite, or let us know by emailing ask.us@fifecountryside.co.uk or phoning 01592 656080. If you cancel your tickets, which have an associated payment/donation, you will be responsible for paying the Eventbrite administration fee.
